Daisies
bloom in the summer and I’ve noticed them on many of my summer adventures. This
sweet little flower once made me think of the time when I was young and
searching for love, plucking it’s peddles and repeating the words, “he loves
me, he loves me not”. Daisies do in fact symbolize love, but they also
symbolize purity, innocence, beauty, patients and simplicity. The word daisy is
Old English for “day’s eye”, because the flower is only open during the day and
closes up at night. I imagine their bright yellow center as the sun and their
white petals as the sun’s rays, radiating out to those around it. Next time you
notice a daisy, think of what it symbolizes for you. Nature speaks to us
through its gifts of beauty. Just as the petals of the daisy opens up to the
sun, open your eyes to nature.
“When you
take a flower in your hand and really look at it, it’s your world for the
moment. I want to give that world to someone else. Most people in the city rush
around so, they have no time to look at a flower. I want them to see it whether
they want to or not.” – Georgia O’Keeffe
Open up like the petals of a daisy.
