Blow Off a Little Steam

Roaring fumaroles, thumping mudpots, boiling pools, and steaming grounds are indications of the potential for a volcanic eruption. Roaring moods, boiling tempers and steaming minds are indications of the potential for an emotional human eruption. A simple remedy is to blow off a little steam. You need to release any pent-up energy so that you don’t one day explode like a fiery volcano. One way to blow off steam is to breathe. Breathing is easy and natural.

Here are some tips for breathing to cool your core...take a slow breath in through the nose, breathing into your lower belly (for about 4 seconds). Hold your breath for 1 or 2 seconds. Exhale slowly through the mouth (for about 4 seconds). Wait a few seconds before taking another breath. About 6-8 breathing cycles per minute is helpful to release a little steam, but find your own comfortable breathing rhythm. If you practice this twice a day for 5 minutes, your roaring, boiling and steaming should settle to a smooth simmer.
