My youngest son is away on a five day, four night outdoor education field trip. The setting takes place on a ranch surrounded
by rolling green hills, flowing creeks, trees, rocks, soaring birds, deer and
other wild creatures. During orientation the vice principal posed the following question for the students to ponder, then asked them to answer it by the end of the field trip...
“What has changed in you?”
Nature's vast classroom has taught me about leadership, teamwork, problem solving, conserving and making wise
decisions. It has taught me patients, perseverance, and how to overcome my fears.
It has taught me to appreciate the little things and marvel in the big things. Looking at your own experiences with nature, what has changed in you? Class is now in session. Take a seat, pay close attention, and get ready to be transformed.
“Knowledge without love will not stick. But if love comes first, knowledge is sure to follow.” - John Burroughs (American naturalist)
Learn through nature
A great question and one we should ask ourselves from time to time. I forget that nature impacts me everyday - from seeing a beautiful blue sky, to experiencing a wet cold winter day to seeing a beautiful rainbow (we've had a lot of those recently :)
