When I return home from a nature vacation, I
feel recharged, re-energized and ready to take on life. How do you bring home that
buzz that you get after spending time with nature? How can you keep the image
of intense beauty, penetrating calmness and sweet serenity so that the recharge
and energy lasts? One way is to take in nature with all your senses. The smell
of the pine trees, the sounds of the coyotes singing in the morning sun, the
taste of fresh cold water filtered from a pristine lake, the feel of the rough
granite on soft hands, the sight of the mountains that reside on the horizon
in every direction. Simply take a picture with your mind. Picture yourself in
the scene, sitting by a lake admiring its reflection, hiking up a lofty granite
slope, feeling swept away as a raven flaps overhead, feeling the heat of the
sun and the coolness of the night. These memories are yours and you can call
upon them whenever you need a little energy boost. Take a picture with your
mind and hold it for as long as you can.
"Your memory is made of light" - Pablo Neruda
